Fontès and Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert

The commune of Fontès is located in the Hérault department, in the Languedoc-Roussillon region, near Adissan, Cabrières and Château-Abbaye de Cassan. So we’re called the Fontésols. In this superb but little-known region, “there’s something for everyone”, you’ll discover our friendly village of Fontès, its fountains, the Horloge tower and Saint-Jean church (14th century), not forgetting the wines at the Cave Coopérative. There’s plenty to do around the campsite! Don’t miss Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert, one of France’s most beautiful villages. It has preserved its medieval character, its craftsmanship and its abbey, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Sète, its port and the Bassin de Thau

Sète is the birthplace of Georges Brassens. It’s a great place to stroll around the port and enjoy the atmosphere of the Sétois nautical jousting and folklore from June to September. You can also discover the 9 locks from Fonseranes to Béziers, or take a cruise on the Canal du Midi, much appreciated for its peacefulness. Not far from the campsite, you’ll find local fruit and vegetable producers, shops, supermarkets, fast-food outlets, flea markets and other markets. You can also enjoy oysters, mussels and shellfish from Bouzigues or Mèze, local products from the Etang de Thau.

Molière's town, Pézenas

Pézenas, nicknamed “the Versailles of Languedoc”, is also the town of Molière. It’s just a few minutes from the campsite. It’s the perfect opportunity to stroll through its pedestrian streets, where you’ll find a lively arts and crafts market every Saturday (all day), and every Monday in July and August, Les Estivales, from 7pm to 11pm, where you can sample the specialities of local producers and craftspeople in a festive, friendly atmosphere. Taste the famous “Petits pâtés de Pézenas” from ALARY, also on sale at the campsite.

Lake Salagou

Ten minutes away from the campsite, windsurfers will find themselves on the Salagou lake for a swim, discovering its red earth banks as well as the Mourèze cirque. 5 kilometers away, enjoy the Hérault valley and its small beaches, also ideal for fishing or canoeing. A few kilometers further on, the Olivettes dam is a relaxing place to swim and picnic. A day at the lake allows you to hike along its shores and feel like you’re no longer on our regional land, but in a different world of basalt and volcano colors! Here and there, you can enjoy a variety of sporting activities, including hiking in an area where ancient volcanoes were once active.

The beaches

For seaside enthusiasts, the huge beaches of Marseillan are just 20 minutes away, as are those of Cap d’Agde and Vias. The Hérault region offers beach-goers miles of fine sand between Le Grau-du-Roi and Vias. Enjoy water sports in the blue waters of the Mediterranean.
