Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert - An exceptional village in the heart of the Hérault valley

Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert is a must for visitors to the Hérault valley. Its classification as one of France’s most beautiful villages and its inclusion on UNESCO’s World Heritage List make it a site of major interest.
Highly appreciated for its natural setting and historical heritage, the village attracts both history buffs and walkers in search of authenticity. A visit to the village is an ideal part of a day trip from the campsite.

Sète - Between Mediterranean traditions and gourmet pleasures

Sète plays a central role in the Hérault region’s maritime identity. A dynamic port city often referred to as the Venice of Languedoc, Sète’s Mediterranean ambience, traditions and privileged location between the sea and the Etang de Thau make it an irresistible attraction. Fancy a day at the seaside? Sète and the beaches of Agde and Marseillan are less than an hour from the campsite. The proximity of the coastline makes it easy to combine cultural discovery, relaxation on sandy beaches and seaside pleasures. The area around Sète, notably Bouzigues and Mèze, completes the visit with a gastronomic approach to shellfish and products from the Etang de Thau, to be enjoyed right on the water.

Pézenas - Molière's town

Pézenas, nicknamed “the Versailles of Languedoc”, is also the town of Molière. It’s just a few minutes from the campsite. It’s the perfect opportunity to stroll through its pedestrian streets, where you’ll find crafts and a market every Saturday (all day), and every Monday in July and August, Les Estivales, from 7pm to 11pm, where you can sample the specialities of local producers and craftspeople in a festive, friendly atmosphere.

The Salagou lake and its volcanic landscapes

Today, Lac du Salagou is considered one of the most remarkable natural sites in the Hérault region. Listed and protected, it offers a unique setting with its red earth, known as ruffes, and attracts many visitors every year in search of unusual landscapes and outdoor activities. Thanks to its many access points and diverse trails, the site is equally suited to families and sports enthusiasts. It’s a real paradise for families, with supervised swimming areas, water-based activities such as canoeing and pedal-boating, and walks accessible to all. Its proximity to the campsite makes it easy to organize a nature outing, combining relaxation, sport and the discovery of a unique geological environment.

Clermont-l'Hérault and its market

Clermont-l’Hérault plays a central role in the local life of the region. Its geographical location makes it a natural stopover for visitors wishing to discover traditional markets and regional products.
The weekly market is a real meeting place, appreciated by locals and holidaymakers alike. The town also benefits from its close proximity to the Lac du Salagou, making it a destination that combines urban activity with wide open spaces.

The Lodève museum and its renowned exhibitions

The Musée de Lodève is a cultural landmark in the Hérault region, renowned for the quality of its temporary exhibitions and its permanent collections dedicated to prehistory and geology. It highlights the history of the region and the close links between man and his environment. Accessible to all, the museum offers an enriching visit, ideal for complementing a nature holiday with a cultural outing. The Cirque de Mourèze is a listed natural site, renowned for its impressive rock formations and timeless atmosphere. It is an ideal hiking destination for lovers of unusual landscapes.
Marked itineraries allow you to discover the site in complete safety, while enjoying spectacular views of the surrounding landscape. This destination is the perfect complement to a visit to nearby Lac du Salagou, a real paradise for families, with its supervised bathing areas, water-based activities such as canoeing and pedal-boating, and walks accessible to all.

Fontès, our village of character

Fontès is a typical Hérault village, appreciated for its peaceful atmosphere and pleasant living environment. Accessible on foot from the Les Clairettes campsite, it’s easy to immerse yourself in local life without taking the car. Nature lovers can take a walk to the Baumes volcano, a natural site offering a remarkable view of the surrounding area. It’s an ideal way to take in the scenery and the peace and quiet of the area. Fontès also boasts a number of local shops, including a bakery and a grocery store, ideal for stocking up on fresh produce on a daily basis. An ideal destination for a gentle outing, combining discovery of the village, nature and practicality during your stay at the campsite.

The beaches

For seaside enthusiasts, the huge beaches of Marseillan are just 20 minutes away, as are those of Cap d’Agde and Vias. The Hérault region offers beach-goers miles of fine sand between Le Grau-du-Roi and Vias. Enjoy water sports in the blue waters of the Mediterranean.

A little further on

For day trips, you can take in the Petite Camargue as far as Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer. You can also head for Perpignan or, in a more exotic setting, meet the wild animals at large in the Sigean African reserve. You can also discover nearby Spain, and even the Port Aventura theme park! Rapido Canoeing in Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert

Come and discover the Grand Site de France of the Gorges de l’Hérault on the water with Canoë Rapido. We offer two trails: the easier one, suitable for ages 4 and up, and the downhill trail, suitable for ages 6 and up, allowing you to enjoy the magnificent scenery of the Hérault Gorges. Park your vehicle in our parking lot at the end of the trails and enjoy the river at your own pace, with no time limit! Bring a swimsuit and a picnic to make the most of your day! The water in the Hérault is often around 25°C in summer, making it a delight for swimming!
